Once in a while I get the urge to write a blog posting and can not think of anything to say, so I sit in a dark corner waiting for the moment to pass :)
Today was one of those days until I came across an article on the BBC website saying that "A review into school toilets across Wales has been ordered amid concerns about health, hygiene and safety." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7473960.stm. It seems that inspectors have decided that 54% of all primary school toilets were dirty and unacceptable.
As a Governor (not in Wales though) I can see where they are coming from but the thought that strikes me is "where is the money coming from". Our school budget is carefully worked out and we have a list of things that need work on over the next 5 years or so. I would personally argue that the state of classrooms is more important than the state of toilets (although there is very little excuse for them to be dirty at the start of the day).
What do you think ?
